Guest Post - Catalinas by Andrea

Andrea also guest posted at CouponingtoDisney this week. This is a great add-on to Amy's post about catalinas, so I thought I would share this one with you all too!

Catalinas (named for the company that issues them) are a GREAT way to save a lot of money on your groceries! A catalina is a coupon that prints out with your register receipt at the end of transaction when you have purchased select items. Yes, those annoying long slips of paper the cashiers hand you with your receipt can actually save you money! Not all stores have catalinas, but the places that do should be where you shop!

Guidelines for Printing Catalinas:
  • You must buy EXACTLY what the offer states to get the Catalina to print. If the offer states Buy 3 Boxes of Kellogg’s Cereal 11 oz and Larger – you cannot buy a 10 oz and two 14 oz.
  • You must buy all of the items in ONE transaction.
  • You may use manufacturer and store coupons on the items in the Catalina. This is where the savings really add up!
  • Catalinas that print for offers of “Spend $20, Get $5 off your next Purchase” – the catalina will print when the orginal amount (BEFORE coupons) reaches $20. If coupons bring it down to $5, it will still print and now you just got $20 worth of products- FOR FREE!
  • Redeeming Catalinas – Stores have different policies on how many can be used together. Check with your individual store on their policy.
  • When the catalina is issued, it is considered a STORE coupon, and can be used with Manufacturer Coupons.
That is essentially the guidelines for getting and using catalinas!
