Monthly Tally
Well this is my jumping off point. GOAL - All future months will be better than these.
I have been wondering what I save and what I spend all in all. I haven't cut back as much as I thought I had, but I have saved more and stocked up on more leading me to believe that I will soon be spending less. It has only been 4 months that I have been saving receipts... and I dont think we saved them religiously in June like we should have.

The owner of Sheraton hotels will offer thousands of guests a free night's stay in dozens of North American locations as part of a massive campaign that kicks off Wednesday to highlight the chain's $6 billion revitalization efforts.
The deal is available for overnight stays on Oct. 23 and will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis through a company Web site. Eighty-six recently renovated Sheratons in the U.S. and Canada — about 40 percent of the brand's North American locations — will participate in the promotion.
Additional nights and services will cost extra, but the offer will cover the cost of taxes, fees and surcharges, said Hoyt Harper, senior vice president of brand management at Sheraton's parent company Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc.
About 2,100 rooms will be available to those who register on Sheraton.com/freenight. Guests will be able to book rooms on the site from Oct. 6 to Oct. 9. Guests who get to the site too late for the free night will be offered a coupon for a room discount.
Sheraton, which is owned by White Plains, N.Y.-based Starwood, hasn't performed as well as its more posh Starwood-owned siblings W, Westin and St. Regis hotels. The company also acknowledges that many of its Sheraton locations had previously presented a hit-or-miss images to guests.
"In North America, we've had a pretty mixed history. We've have some great hotels and we've have some hotels that were substandard," Harper said. "This is a new beginning for the brand."
As part of the effort that was launched in 2007, Sheraton cut underperforming locations from its roster and added or renovated 70,000 Sheraton rooms around the globe. Nearly three-quarters of them were in the U.S. and Canada, and almost half of the brand's 203 North American locations have been renovated through the effort.
Morningstar analyst Michelle Chang said the such an undertaking is vital for hotels, which must constantly update their interior or risk losing customers for good.
"If a hotel company doesn't continually reinvest in their properties, it's going to lose its luster, and it's going to look run down," she said. "And so you have to keep reinvesting in the property to keep it fresh and keep it new and keep it updated."

My only problem was at Walgreens. Remember that $25 Rx transfer that came in the mail a few days ago? Well Walgreens will not exchange it for a gift certificate, they wont even apply it to my Rx, but it must be SPENT at the pharmacy... Apparently they can ring the whole transaction up no matter how much crap I buy in the store.. and they can't return any of the money. It is basically a coupon. WTH? CVS gave me a gift card of $25 to transfer there. I am not happy with that policy as I have never spent $25 in any given transaction and even with 11 transactions didn't spend that much. Looks like I will be going to blow a bunch of Walgreens money on Halloween candy tomorrow when I pick up my Rx. $25 worth... geez, like we would ever need that much candy. I hope to find a million coupons that I can use there so that I can quadruple my spending.

My only problem was at Walgreens. Remember that $25 Rx transfer that came in the mail a few days ago? Well Walgreens will not exchange it for a gift certificate, they wont even apply it to my Rx, but it must be SPENT at the pharmacy... Apparently they can ring the whole transaction up no matter how much crap I buy in the store.. and they can't return any of the money. It is basically a coupon. WTH? CVS gave me a gift card of $25 to transfer there. I am not happy with that policy as I have never spent $25 in any given transaction and even with 11 transactions didn't spend that much. Looks like I will be going to blow a bunch of Walgreens money on Halloween candy tomorrow when I pick up my Rx. $25 worth... geez, like we would ever need that much candy. I hope to find a million coupons that I can use there so that I can quadruple my spending.

Great Mail Day!
I was expecting a bunch of bills... instead I had $75 in my mail box!
There was the normal coupon mailer: Thanks for signing up, here is a $2 coupon off your next purchase of Gain (no size restriction - that is a good thing!)
Then there were two hand written envelopes from NY. Inside each of them were envelops from babycenter.com with $25 AMEX gift cards inside. I don't recall signing up for any drawings on that site, but I wont complain!
Then there was a letter from Walgreens giving me $25 for transferring my Rx. I will toss my Rx's around when I have them to get the free money, but I LOVE it when it is for more than $10!
To top it off, there was not a single bill! AND the library had dropped off 4 books we were waiting for!
Too bad each day can't be like that!
