Reader Trips - I made $45 @ Publix

WOW-o-WOW! I just bought 11 trial sized packs of Crest 3D White Whitestrips at 2 different Publix (orginial post HERE).. and away with $45... and all those white strips! Did you know the large packs cost anywhere from $30-over $50?!!

Crest 3D White Whitestrip – $5.99 (trial size!)
-$10 Crest 3D White Prof -10/30 P&G
Total - $4.01 Money Maker

Remember your coupon etiquette:
*Do not clear shelves to stockpile... if there is only a few left, it is OK to take them, just dont take 30 at a time and clear the shelves
*Be patient! A lot of *High Value* coupons require manager approval and over rides. Getting frustrated helps no one and they will be nicer to you is you stay pleasant.
*If you are refused, just walk away. Don't fight over a freebie. Your dignity is at stake. Don't look frivolous. There will be other stores that will take it. And there will be other deals just as good.
*Get a raincheck! The coupon doesn't expire until the end of the month. You can even place a special order!

**The coupon took a lot more effort at my second store. I knew it might be a hassle so I went to Customer Service to begin with instead of tying up a line. Then the register wouldn't accept it. Then the manager called the first store and manually over rode it.

Thanks Coupon Mamacita for the heads up!

This type of couponing will eventually lead to Publix or other companies to enforce stricter coupon rules. Leaving everyone with little to no opportunity to get an overage that can apply to other items being purchased.

My advice to everyone who does this -
This is really an abuse to couponing. instead of taking the money out of the register - apply it to meats/fruits/veggies.

It is not abuse. The store is not out a dime. They get every penny back from the manufacturer plus $.08

I did apply the overage to other things... Just not on that trip

Publix gets full face value back on those coupons so they are not out any money. Plus they sold a ton of overpriced trial size crest strips that most likely they would not have sold without someone using these coupons

-- I respect your point of view but i'm looking at the situation in a business prospective. Several managers and lower level executives don't fully comprehend coupon policies and only see the customer "taking" money from the store. it's at this point that the store will deem this type of coupon overage unacceptable and ban it from their store (just like Target and other stores). If you were to use the overage towards other items there would be no loss to the store during that financial period.

Using your coupons to make money is a little iffy - in the end you only ruin it from other people. I feel this is a selfish action. Mind you I HAVE bought several crest strips but I have BROKEN them into different transaction so i don't take money from the register and upset management. Again all the managers see is YOU TAKING MONEY FROM THE REGISTER. If i was a manager I would stop this action ASAP.

As for overpricing - you cant' justify the abuse of a coupon due to a store overpricing an item. Travel/Sample size items are more costly due to the increased expenses to produce them.

Again, it is not abuse and my managers know the coupon policies and that they are not losing money, thus why they allow it. What they DO NOT allow is coupon fraud.
