A recent survey of more than 800 moms* showed that 93 percent of them have already had the “big” conversations with their child about drugs, alcohol and smoking, but day-to-day conversations were hardest to navigate. Overall, moms felt least prepared to talk to their children about makeup (33%) or to talk with a child who wants to forego glasses for contact lenses (21%).
Self-esteem tied to physical appearance is one example of an issue affecting a teen’s self-confidence and performance. However, parents that have “daily talks” with their teens can make a positive impact for the future. For tips on how to get started, consider speaking with an outside party, such as a pediatrician or eye care professional, as they can help provide answers while also giving teens another impartial, but credible source of information.
Another way to positively impact the future is by taking advantage of the SofLens® Daily Score Sweepstakes currently live at www.soflensdailyscore.com. Enter daily through 9/30/2011 for your chance to win one of 100 weekly SofLens sports tote bags, or the grand prize of a $5,000 scholarship!
