Learn about reading music and music theory

Everyone loves music. We may not all love the same styles. But music is the one passion nearly everyone shares. And chances are, you've picked up an instrument at one time or another.

For many people, learning to play their favorite songs is enough. But some want to go deeper. They choose to dive into music theory. They want to know how and why music works the way it does. If this is you, keep reading.

LenMus is a free program for learning music theory. Musical notation really is like a foreign language. This program can teach you to read and write music like a pro. Then take that knowledge to the score editor. There you can write and listen to your own ditties.

This program can also test your knowledge and your ear. Can you explain what's going on in a piece of music? Some of this is pretty advanced. It's not for everyone. But understanding the nuts and bolts of music can be useful.
