Homemade - Sunscreen!

Being from Florida I am an SPF-or-Die kinda girl. Skin cancer is no joke and avoidable in most cases. Ya know there are a bajillion uses for Coconut oil, right.... did you know you could make sunscreen out of it?!!?

I was concerned at first bc oil=BURN to me.

Checkout this recipe! Seems legit! I am trying it for sure!

What you need:
¼ cup virgin coconut oil
5 tsp Zinc Oxide (Where to find zinc oxide?)
3 Tbsp aloe Vera(Best if pure Aloe Vera not bottled gel with alcohol or propylene glycol. May substitute olive, almond, or grapeseed oil)
½ cup filtered water or green tea (strained)
2-4 capsules of vitamin E oil (Optional – Now Foods sells an awesome and inexpensive Vitamin E Oil)
Beeswax (optional if you prefer thicker sunscreen)
Essential oil for scent (Optional)
--For the directions, go HERE!

*They say you should use at least an ounce per person per visit... I'm from FL, we used that each hour... Make sure you buy new sunscreen every year, once opened it only lasts a season. Dont risk it! It is $7 versus hundreds or thousands or death if you develop skin cancer!

*Look for UVA and UVB protective. Coppertone is a GREAT product!  They protect against both, have clear expiration dates and are easy to apply... .We use the waterproof spray. BUT Make sure to respray every hour or two... yeah yeah, but serious, take the extra-precaution. It is worth those few dollars.
