Personal storage and file sharing in the cloud

It used to be that we used floppies to exchange files. After all, people didn't have videos on their computers. And not many people had photos. So files were small.

Hardly anybody uses floppies today. Jeez, you'd need a truckload to hold a video!

A good way to swap files today is via the Internet. But Internet service providers won't accept big e-mail attachments. So, you need to use specialized Web sites.

You can also use these sites to store often-used files. You'll have access to them anywhere you have an Internet connection. Store your personal files. Share files with friends. Or, drop files in a public folder for the world to see.

SkyDrive is part of Microsoft's Windows Live service. Think of it as an extra hard drive on the Web. And what does it cost? Zip. You have to sign up or log in with your Windows Live ID. You can store up 25GB of data.
