Kim Komando - Daily Download

Vaccinate your USB drive against malware

Criminals are always finding new ways to get malware on your computer. One way to do it is by piggybacking on USB drives. Inserting a compromised USB drive can spell instant infection.

Windows has a feature called Autorun. It automatically launches certain media inserted into your computer. That includes CDs, DVDs and programs on USB drives. Malware can exploit this.

Panda USB Vaccine helps remove this vulnerability. Run it on your USB drives to disable Autorun on them. This kind of malware won't be able to infect them. You won't worry about bringing it home after use on other computers.

Now, you can't run this on all of your friends' USB drives. So, this program can also turn off Autorun on your computer. That way, no USB drive can automatically deliver malware. You can do this manually by digging through a few Windows settings. But this program makes it a one-button affair.
