[Review] Joe's Crab Shack - What's YOUR Dippin' Style

http://joescrabshack.com/?gclid=CKaH9LqC4bwCFREaOgodGC8A-A
I absolutely LOVED Joe's Crab Shack back in Orlando. It was located next to FAO Swartz so it was a fun night out! I miss Orlando and haven't been back to Joe's in ... oh my... since pre-kids so over 4 years? ... yes the trip to the toy store was for me :)

Soooo... when I was contacted by Lainie about reviewing Joe's Crab Shack on my blog, I jumped!! YES YES YES PLEASE?!?!?!?

Taking kids out to eat is normally quite a daunting chore. We made it so much fun!

We parked in free parking on Mt Washington and took the "Monongahela Incline" down. It was $3.50 round trip for each of us and under 5 was free... We spent $7 :)
The kids, Atlas and Aria, could barely contain their excitement. Thank goodness we went early! The only ppl to do early bird are old or have little kids... this totally works for us!
They wanted to run up and down the isles instead of coloring. Shockingly, Atlas was more contained than Aria who refused a booster seat and had to be strapped down in a high chair.
That is me and Aria after I got her to get in her seat. The manager gave her some Mardi Gras beads... she is a huge fan of jewelry if you hadnt noticed ;)

We totally got the $2 Pabst ($2 Tuesdays) And here is what we ate:

My husband and I both had crab cakes in our order and WOW! They were amazing. My server, Andrea, brought me out the 2 different Cesar dressings and I liked the Chipotle Cesar better, surprisingly! Andrea said I would, but I am a HUGE fan of regular ole Cesar.

The kids had chicken strips with apple sauce and shrimp with fries. *My.Kids.Ate.Shrimp* That was shocking and loved! They wont eat them at home. Or they wouldnt until now!
*NOTE on the kids menu - Atlas is dairy free due to a skin issue. The menu listed 5 different allergies and each item included which allergies the food was free from (not sure how to not end this with a prepositional phrase). It was incredible! They did tell us to get desserts next time, but most of them contained ice cream and Atlas is dairy free... but he doesnt know he is missing out on anything! He filled up on shrimp, chicken & apple sauce!

Everything was delicious. Seriously. Even brought home half my food and over half the kids' foods because it was just too much. Can you believe the 4 of us ate, and had 4 PBRs (not the kids, clearly) for under $50!?!!? How crazy is that? We go to the bistro down the street and spend $75 and only have 2 drinks on our receipt.  The $7 trip down the mountain made it so exciting!

Thanks Andrea, for being so awesome!

Dont forget the new menu though!!! If you dont have to wrangle children and can crack crab legs, that is...
Featured on the new menu is the Dippin’ Crab Bucket, a dish that offers guests a chance to savor Joe’s fresh crab 15 different ways. Guests first choose one of Joe’s fresh-from-the-shore crab varieties, including king, queen, snow, Dungeness and Antarctic. Each is cooked to order, just like at the shore. The next big choice is one of the new Dippin’ sauces, including a rich Garlicky Butter sauce, a ginger, plum and sriracha Tiki sauce, and the buttery mushroom Back Bay sauce. Every Dippin’ Crab Bucket also includes fresh corn, potatoes and a piping hot buttermilk biscuit for a little Southern flair.

Joe’s also is rolling out its new Shack Calamari topped with Joe’s famous tangy Shack Sauce; the Southern Sampler featuring shrimp toast, crab fritters and fried pickles served with remoulade and ranch dressing; and Mahi Kabobbers – three skewers of mahi-mahi, bacon-wrapped shrimp, red peppers and red onions served with potatoes and corn hash.

Even the bar menu gets an update, with refreshing new Mason jar drinks, including the Patio Punch featuring Malibu Rum and DeKuyper Peachtree Schnapps, the Honey Peach Smash featuring Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey whiskey, and Remy Red Sangria featuring Remy Martin VS, Bacardi Rum and cabernet sauvignon.
Disclosure: We were provided a gift card to dine at this restaurant. All opinions are 100% mine and not influenced by the gift card. We honestly didnt even know there was a Joe's Crab Shack up here. Really glad to know there is and we plan to return.
