Ok I kid... I have heard you don't send your food back under any circumstances... my MIL tried to live by this.She is certain someone will spit in it. Having worked a restaurant, that is NOT going to happen. Sure there are rude customers, but the majority aren't, so quit thinking your tip is gold.
However, I have also been a cashier. I always considered it mindless work, but sometimes you have a headcase come through your line and you would like to put your foot through their face.. clearly you can't.
