Kim Komando - Daily Download

One million free e-books, and then some

We’ve been hearing a lot about e-books lately. That’s thanks largely to the Amazon Kindle and Apple's iPad.
These make it easy to read books on the go. You don’t need to lug around a stack of books. Your Kindle or iPad will hold hundreds of books. And they’re not much bigger than a paperback.

Of course, you don’t need to buy a reader to get e-books. You can read them on your computer. You may even be able to read them on your phone.

Now for the really cool part about e-books: You’ll find plenty of free ones online. For example, there are millions of free public domain titles at Google Books.

Public domain titles are no longer under copyright. So, you’ll mostly find classic works. You can download them in PDF or EPUB format. Just click the Download link when you’re viewing a book.

Google Books isn’t just limited to free titles. You’ll also find previews of copyrighted works. These can’t be downloaded.

Hint: Finding the free titles can be hit or miss. That is, unless you use the advanced search tools. You’ll be able to limit searches to free titles.
